Tam has provided a number of offer and installed various machines for production process especially packaging machine. We have always tried to extract the problem in the customer’s existing equipment, improved and contributed the production efficiency. This is one of the cases such improvement.
Before
The customer was a frozen food manufacturing company who ran several VFFS machines to manufacture 12,500 bags per hour by using the existing equipment. The whole process, including the packaging and shipping after packaging had been automated.

Challenge for new equipment
The customer had a plan to install new packaging line as their production had been increasing. We received a contact and assignment of ‘Improving the existing equipment and designing new equipment tailored to production volume ‘ as the existing machine had own limit of capability.
There were a lot to examine.
Firstly, the packaging machine. The existing machine in use was VFFS and we also proposed our standard VFFS model TWJB for the new line. Due to the essential function of TWJB, it was expected to have significantly higher capabilities than the existing machine. We also added specific option for the frozen food.
The frozen food is stiff when it’s frozen, of course. When packing them in the vertical packaging machine it may cause damage on the film or break it as such stiff frozen product falls.
Tam has an optional parts calls ‘Beak-shaped shutter’, for the purpose to receive the falling product in the machine. This is the parts to receive the product with a stainless plate, and the beak closes before the end seal bar closes. This prevents the damage to inner side film as the product does not fall onto the film directly.

By this optional device, the risk of the film damage became nearly zero.
The production capability in the end has increased 20% in comparison to the existed equipment.
The automatic cardboard caser was also the already existed equipment and this process had to be examined the production improvement more than 20%.
We have examined the casing process by using parallel robot to correspond to the supply speed. There were several choices of casing method and the composition using parallel robot automation had advantage over others. On the other hand, in order to make an offer with more certainty, we implemented robot testing with confirming the posture of the bags in the box.

This testing record had led us to find out the most suitable tool for picking up the product and placing into box and the necessity of a bag flatten conveyor to be equipped in the line.
In this manner of examination, Tam deepens the discussion and experiment the possibility down to robot, conveyor and packaging machine. Making our proposal with certainty that has been proved would contribute the improvement of customer’s productivity.
