Basic Health and Safety Policy
"Safety takes precedence over everything we do."
At the Kashiwa Factory, our production base, we have laid down the basic policy "Safety takes precedence over everything we do" and have set the goals of zero lost-time accidents, zero equipment accidents, zero traffic accidents, zero long-term absence due to illnesses, and prevention of the spread of infectious diseases. In order to achieve these goals, we are implementing the following initiatives as priority measures.
1. Practicing the 5 Ss: Maintaining work environments by practicing the 5 Ss, that is, “Seiri” (Neat), “Seiton” (Tidy), “Seiso” (Clean), “Seiketsu” (Hygenic), and “Shitsuke” (Disciplined). This eliminates unnecessary objects and dirt and reduces the causes of accidents and similar problems. Every month, the days ending with 5 are designated as the "5-Ss Days" and each department systematically conducts activities to keep workplaces in good order.
2. Near misses: Employees report and share dangerous incidents that occurred during work or events that led to the prevention of accidents. This enables us to anticipate and remediate potential hazards, conduct risk prediction activities, and carry out preemptive safety tasks.
3. Safety check patrol: Once a month, workplaces and equipment are inspected to identify safety problems and areas for improvement. We implement countermeasures and improvements as necessary.
4. Health management: We strive to create work environments where employees can work with peace of mind and aim to ensure that employees are always healthy, both physically and mentally.
5. Risk assessment: We strive to improve health and safety standards by assessing manufacturing equipment and so on for risks, and implementing countermeasures.
